Another Paris Fashion Week is done. It is the Time for a review. So let’s start with Versace: It was all about mixed feelings. Some things I liked and some I didn’t. It was weird if we can say. First of all, it was supposed to be a Fall/Winter collection so we didn’t expected to see many summery colors: But it was all about dusty pastels, bold colors like yellow and hot pink and gray. I really like glass runway paved over hundreds of mauve, purple, and green orchids. This collection was a softer version of Atelier Versace. That’s what Donatella declared backstage. It shows The Festival/ Coachella Girl by Versace.
The dresses made from hand-painted floral fil coupe, or unraveling strips of pastel chiffon cinched across the torso by narrower strips of chain mail paired with leather platform boots. There was barely an edge in sight that wasn’t frayed, be it the cuff of a single bell sleeve or the tiered tufts of chiffon on the asymmetric skirts of showpiece gowns. Some dresses seemed just barely held together with strings of flowers, while others balanced solid silk chiffon on one side with peekaboo cutouts on the other. As ever, skin was often exposed through the sheer corset. While some dresses looks sexy and classy, other looked cheap and not fit for a couture collection or even in any collection.
