It seems that Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli , creative directors at Valentin were thinking deeply about Africa when they were designing for spring. For the past few years, thousands of refugees from different nationalities especially from Africa have been moving to southern Italy. Unfortenuely, they have been treated in a very bad way, not taking into consideration the reason(per example; a war) why they left their country and moved to Italy.
And this is what the Valentino designers want to counteract. “We probably feel that the greatest privilege in doing our work is that fashion can give a message,” said Chiuri. “We think every person coming here is an individual, and we can show that we can improve ourselves by understanding other cultures.”“The message,” added Piccioli, “is tolerance. And the beauty that comes out of cross-cultural expression.”However the Romanian Vibes had their own part also from the collection: the carwash leather dress, the Roman sandals with carved ebony heels. Both designers went to the African’s extreme and it shows from the pagan necklaces that appeared in white ceramic, suggesting abstracted teeth or shells and from the bold peacock feather, ethnic prints and definitely the DREADLOCKES.My heart fell for the halter sheer dresses : so delicate and feminine.
