After launching a successful Egyptian Haute Couture collection that left us speechless and making a huge appearance for his designs at the Oscars’ red carpet, Elie Saab sandwiched these two events with a dark romantic collection. “I wanted something rich, maybe it is less commercial than before and more dramatic” said Saab. Elie Saab Haute Couture SS17

How does it feel when your favorite designer presents a collection as a  tribute to your country? For those of you who don’t know, I am originally from Egypt. While I was watching the show ( live on Instagram lol), I got goosebumps, literally: These dresses inspired by Egyptian actresses in the 50’s era and Oum Khoulthoum’s song in the background left me speechless. You know why? (more…)

Elie Saab Resort 2016: The 70’s Hollywood Glamour

Again and again Elie Saab did it.This man never fail to impress me. I think I should do a specific category about him haha. You already know that he is my role model and you know how much he inspires and gives me hope. And each collection Elie Saab proves to us that he is truly a GENIUS. Recently, he launched his resort collection and here is a little review about it. There were seven mini themes nestled within Elie Saab’s Resort collection, but no matter. The through-line was clear: The Seventies Hollywood glamour. We can spot this  from floral palm prints and embroideries in the shape of abstract palm leaves on blouses, dresses and gowns. (more…)

Maxime Chaya: Inspiration

Today, its the independence day of Lebanon, my beloved country. Through, we don’t have a president and the situation is really bad, I decided to talk about a man who made us proud of him, who raised the lebanese flag everywhere. A person who became an inspiration for many of us. It’s the one and only : Maxime Chaya.
He may don’t sound familiar with u, so I will give some info about his bio.
Maxime Edgard Chaya (born December 16, 1961) is a sportsman, mountaineer and explorer from Lebanon. On May 15, 2006, he was the first Lebanese to climb Mount Everest, completing the Seven Summits    challenge.

On December 28, 2007, he also became the first from the Middle East to reach the South Pole on foot from the Antarctic coast, after an unsupported and unassisted journey that lasted 47 days. Then, on April 25, 2009, he was again the first from the region to reach the North Pole on foot, all the way from Canada
In doing so, he became the 16th person in history to complete the Three Poles Challenge. Last, Maxime is the 6th person in history to complete the Explorers Grand Slam.Since his partnership with Bank Audi on the “Seven Summits Project” in January 2003, it has been one successful expedition after another for Maxime, acquiring experience, knowledge and wisdom, while discovering new limits within him, and ‘Growing Beyond His Potential’ summit after summit.
Recently, on August 5, 2013, Maxime beat the world record in rowing the Indian Ocean. The three adventurers, Maxime, the Faroese Livar Nysted and the British Stuart Kershaw crossed 5, 801,169 km from Geraldton in the east of Australia and rowed alternatively, during 57 days, 19 hours, 25 minutes and 52 seconds exactly. They were also the first crew of three to cross the Indian Ocean.

Climbed peaks and reached landmarks:
Mont Blanc (France)
Cho Oyu (Tibet / Nepal)
Mount Aspiring (New Zealand)
The Geographical North Pole (the Arctic Circle)
The South Pole (Antarctica)
Mount Ama Dablam (Nepal)
The Matterhorn (Switzerland / Italy) Climbed, and raised the Lebanese flag on all Seven Summits:
Mount Kilimanjaro – 5,895m (Tanzania – September 2001)
Mount McKinley/Denali – 6,196m (Alaska – June 2003)
Aconcagua – 6,961m (Argentina – January 2004)
Vinson Massif – 4,892m (Antarctica – December 2004)
Mount Elbrus – 5,642m (Russia – July 2005)
Carstensz Pyramid – 4,884m (Indonesia – November 2005)
Mount Everest – 8,848m (Tibet / Nepal – May 2006)
Maxime regularly visits school, universities and clubs across the region delivering his presentation entitled: “There is an Everest for Everyone”.On the independance day celebration, Maxime came to our school ” College Saint Maxime”. He showed us a presentation. Each situation he passed through,  he learned something. He said that problems are everywhere, we can’t run away from them but the difference is how u solve the problems.  Face it , think don’t panic. ..Every problem has his own solution. Then, he proved to us that whatever is your dream, by believing AND WORKING HARD  u will do it. Seriously when u see the conditions that he was living in and how these conditions didn’t stop him from achieving his dream, U say that everything is possible. One more thing he said : that failure isn’t the end of the world it’s a chance to learn from our mistakes .. don’t stop and keep going
